Skills Boot Camps
Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership
Skills Bootcamps – part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life.
Skills Bootcamps provide learners with technical skills that employers need. They are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks giving people the opportunity to gain sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer or gain new skills in an existing job. They are free to learners and can be online, face-to-face, or a mixture of both depending on the subject.
Learners who are employed, self-employed or unemployed can attend a Skills Bootcamp to gain skills for a new job or contract. An employer can also send a member of staff onto a Skills Bootcamp to gain new skills to fill gaps within the business. The employer is asked to make a contribution of 10% towards the cost (SME) or 30% (large business) if they send their own staff. Costs vary depending on type of Skills Bootcamp.
Skills Bootcamps are fairly new. There may already be Skills Bootcamps that learners can access online from the national Skills Bootcamps that have been developed and links to those will be provided here shortly. Working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, the LEP has secured funding to lead the development of Skills Bootcamps locally.
