Forest-bathing and mental health
Shinrin yoku (or forest bathing) in July 2024
The Ashing Lane Nature Reserve is in Dunholme five miles north of Lincoln at the end of a bumpy track from the A46. It has pathways through meadows, young woodland and a lake. It is usually very peaceful, a place for a quiet walk and fresh air. The Reserve is open 24/7. You can find more on the website – https://www.nettlehamwoodlandtrust.co.uk/health–wellbeing.html
Three toilets have been hired for nine days in early July including a disabled unit. These have been funded by a grant from the Michael Cornish Trust to the Nettleham Woodland Trust (NWT) who have organised five sessions of orienteering with local schools and scouts between Saturday 6th July and Sunday 14th July. There may be one or two more, but there are plenty of possibilities at the two weekends, on the weekdays after the school groups have left and even on some of those weekdays.
Close connections with nature and being outdoors are recognised cornerstones of good mental health as shown on this recent release about well-being: from the World Wildlife Fund
If you would like to learn more and discuss availability e.g. when the school groups will not be there, please email us on https://www.nettlehamwoodlandtrust.co.uk/contact.html
