Date: Wednesday 20th May

Time: 1pm – 2.30pm

Location: Online

Our next Learning & Development Session takes place on Wednesday 20th May at 1pm and focuses on unpaid carers, the challenges they face and the support available to them.

The session will be delivered by Sheena Goodey from Carer’s First, who brings a wealth of experience working directly with unpaid carers and supporting organisations to respond well to carers needs.

Many people are unpaid carers – often alongside work.  They may be supporting someone with illness, disability, mental health needs, addiction, or helping an older person with everyday tasks.  Caring can be rewarding, but it can also be hard, and carers often don’t realise what support is available.

In this session, we will:

  • Explain who unpaid carers are and why many go unnoticed
  • Look at what employers should be doing to better support carers at work
  • Share practical support available for unpaid carers
  • Explore the Carer Champion offer and how it can help organisations
  • Talk through real-life examples to show what good support looks like
  • Explore how members can feed into the Carers Steering Group, share their views and help shape future support for unpaid carers.

Why join?

This is a supportive, open learning session for LVET members, for VCFSE organisations of all sizes.  It’s a chance to:

  • Learn something new
  • Build confidence in supporting carers
  • Understand how small changes can make a big difference
  • Take practical ideas back to your organisation

Whatever your role with an organisation, this session will help you feel more confident and informed.

Do get in touch if you need the calendar invite re-sending – we hope you can make it.
