Digital Champions

Supporting communities to get online, confidently and safely

LVET is hosting and coordinating a Lincolnshire‑wide Digital Champions network, bringing together VCFSE organisations that already support people with digital skills – and those that want to.

The project is funded by Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and is focused on reducing digital exclusion by supporting trusted community volunteers to help people use digital devices and services with confidence.

What is the Digital Champions network?

The Digital Champions network connects existing Digital Champions and VCFSE organisations that host them into a shared, supportive countywide community.

Digital Champions are volunteers based in trusted local settings – such as community hubs, food banks, faith centres and charities – who help people with everyday digital tasks and confidence.

This includes things like:

  • Using smartphones, tablets or laptops
  • Accessing online services
  • Staying safe online and avoiding scams
  • Using health tools like the NHS App
  • Finding help with devices, data, or connectivity through national and local schemes

LVET’s role is to make sure organisations and champions aren’t working in isolation, and that support reaches the communities who need it most.

Who the network is for?

This project is aimed at:

  • VCFSE organisations that already host Digital Champions
  • VCFSE organisations interested in hosting Digital Champions within their services or community spaces

It is not aimed at recruiting individual volunteers directly, but at supporting organisations to grow and strengthen the digital help they already offer.

Statutory partners are also welcome to connect with the network where there is shared learning or collaboration.

Why LVET is hosting the network?

LVET is a countywide, independent VCFSE organisation. We’re not tied to one service or locality, which allows us to:

  • Bring organisations together across Lincolnshire
  • Share good practice and learning
  • Spot gaps in digital support and help address them
  • Coordinate activity without duplicating what’s already working well
  • Act as a neutral connector between community organisations and statutory partners

Our focus is on supporting the sector, not replacing or reshaping existing local work.
