LVET Conference 2024!

What difference do we make?

This year’s conference took place on Wednesday 24th April 2024 at Bishop Grosseteste University, Longdales Road, Lincoln, LN1 3DY! It was a fantastic day, with various speakers, workshops and activities to have got involved with!

The theme this year was ‘What difference do we make?’ – collectively we do all make a huge difference across Lincolnshire and it was great to learn about different ways we can showcase this!

It was a fantastic day of practical workshops and keynote speakers, and highlighted the difference our member organisations make to the lives of the people of Lincolnshire through the health, social care and wellbeing activities and services they provide.

Ivan Annibal and Dan Reynolds - How do you measure difference and impact?

We’re pleased to announce two of our key speakers who are passionate about Social Impact and measuring the difference we make! Ivan Annibal from Rose Regeneration and Dan Reynolds from Impactasauras! Click on their images below to hear more about them!

Kirsteen Redmile - How does the VCSE sector fit with personalisation?

We’re excited to share Kirsteen Redmile will be speaking at our conference! Kirsteen is the Lead Change Manager for Personalisation within the Lincolnshire ICS, and we’ll be hearing the impact the VCSE sector has on personalisation and the wider community!

So, what is personalisation?

Personalisation takes a ‘whole-system approach, integrating services including health, social care, public heath and wider services around the person’, and ‘rooted in the belief that people ‘want a life not a service’. For many LVET members, they are delivering personalised care all the time as part of their work and how they engage with people and those around them.

The It’s All About People website talks all about personalisation, personalised care and also covers the main components, such as Shared Decision Making and Supported Self-Management.
John Turner and Martin Samuels - How does the difference we make connect with wider system strategies?

We’re thrilled to announce John Turner, Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), will be joining us to talk about how they recognise and acknowledge the difference the VCSE sector makes, and how this connects with wider strategies. We’ll also be hearing from Martin Samuels, Executive Director for Adult Care and Community Wellbeing for his perspective too!

So, what is the ICB?

The Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is a statutory organisation bringing the local NHS together to improve Lincolnshire’s health and wellbeing. The Lincolnshire ICB website has a wide range of information, including meeting their board and what their strategies and plans are. LVET’s deputy chair, Michele Joly, attends the ICB as a representative of the VCSE sector.

Communication and Marketing

We’re pleased to announce Steph Henderson will be joining us from Distract to deliver a communications and marketing workshop!

Steph is the Strategy Director at Distract, a UK full-service marketing agency, with over 10 years of experience in developing effective marketing strategies that drive business growth. As a sought-after speaker, Steph shares her insights and expertise with audiences, providing actionable takeaways that attendees can immediately apply within their own organisations. She is an active member of the marketing community, regularly sharing the knowledge and insights that she has developed through working on client projects, with a particular interest in taking learnings from strategies used for larger brands and applying them effectively within the not-for-profit sector.
Capturing better story-telling images to create engagement

We’re thrilled to share Chris Vaughan will be joining us to facilitate a workshop around capturing better story-telling images to create engagement without getting technical!

During this workshop, specialist commercial photographer, Chris Vaughan (managing director at Chris Vaughan photography) will give his top five tips for creating better images using your smart phone. The workshop will include a practical challenge, so don’t forget to bring your phone with you!

Chris Vaughan is the managing director of Chris Vaughan Photography – a specialist commercial photographic company that makes their clients the focus of their marketing material.

Chris believes that photography is vital to any marketing plan, and working in partnership with his clients – and not for them – helps create exceptional working relationships that not only deliver great images, but powerful storytelling tools that help his clients achieve their marketing and sales goals by connecting with their target audience.

Chris’ career began as a 14-year-old when he became Lincoln City’s official club photographer, a role he still holds today alongside his dad, Andrew. After launching his own business in 2011, Chris works with a range of organisations across the UK helping them create powerful and visually stunning imagery that forms integral parts of their marketing output.
Producing Short Videos

We’re excited to share Jack Shelbourn will be delivering one of the workshops on producing short videos, using your phone!

In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to get the most out of your phone’s video functions to film and interview additional footage, then put it all together to make a promotional video that can be used for a wide range of purposes. Don’t forget to bring your phone to the session!

Jack is a senior lecturer at the University of Lincoln. He is a cinematographer and credits include Mind-Set (2022), which won best UK feature film at the Manchester International Film Festival. Jack is currently pursuing a PhD on Sustainable Cinematography supervised by Professor Mette Hjort.
Weaving words to share your brand's story

It is great to share Jodie Weavers will be joining us to deliver a workshop focusing on stories, creating engaging narratives to tell your story!

Jodie is on a mission to help small businesses share their unique brand stories! With kindness being at the core of what she does, she has genuine passion and care to see you thrive, taking the time to understand goals and values. What's your Value?

We’re thrilled Ivan Annibal will be joining us at the #Whatdifferencedowemake conference to deliver a workshop too!

During the workshop, we will explore how you can present and visualise your impact. You will learn how to create an impact card, an effective tool to showcase highlights, how to pick out the key points and how to talk about the impact you have made with other people, inside and outside of your organisation.

It is great to have Ivan expanding from the Social Value Engine session! Ivan has practical ‘hands on’ style experience delivering programmes, evaluating services and support them to measure their impact. Ivan is also a chair of trustees at Rural community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN), a Senior Visiting Fellow at Lincoln International Business School and a Fellow of the Institute of Economic Development. Lumina

Lumina is a social enterprise supporting DevelopmentPlus. Lumina provides wellbeing packages to businesses who wish to invest in their employee’s wellbeing while helping projects that support positive mental health, street homeless, ex-offenders and more here in Lincolnshire.
Wayapa Wuurrk

4 Pachamama CIC is proud to be the European home of a new but ancient Internationally accredited Movement and Mindfulness wellness modality called Wayapa Wuurrk (Earth Connection). Wayapa weaves with the pathways to Nature Connection identified by Derby University (Contact/Senses, Beauty, Emotion, Meaning & Compassion). Extensive research has already shown Nature Connection benefits our wellbeing, particularly our mental health but also benefits the Wellbeing of Our Planet too.

Join Debbie for an introduction to Collective Wellbeing and the benefits this holds for everyone. This half hour session provides an opportunity to begin to consider our Nature relationship with an emphasis on carers in our community and share suggestions how we can be more inclusive and supportive of the incredible role carers of all ages provide for the cared for and wider community. The session will finish with a short Nature based Mindfulness practice for everyone’s wellbeing. Look forward to seeing you there.

Dance Free

Let it all loose and immerse yourself in the moment with a silent disco! Be guided into your comfort zone, to feel happy, release worries and stresses, and experience freedom. Move as much or as little as you want, with no judgement. Open to everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability. No experience is necessary! It is a mindful experience moving and connecting to the body through the music. Gift yourself a moment of joy and empowerment!

Dance Free is a weekly free-movement dance held at beautiful locations across Lincolnshire, both indoors and outside in nature.
The Wellness Network CIC

The session is called ‘Gut Health & Wellbeing’, and will be going through key, important factors about Gut Health in an interactive style of a quiz! You’ll be split into teams and given a task to solve together, all involving the gut! It will then go into what is involved, and importantly, why it is involved! So come along if you’d like to hear more about how your gut health can affect your wellbeing!

The Wellness Network CIC aims to empower people to live their best life! The overall aims are to educate, inspire and motivate people to live the best, healthiest life they can, whether thta is through their mental, physical or emotional health. This is done through different programmes and more information can be found on their website!
